Tiki Mural

This has actually been completed for quite a while now, but I figured I'd finally put pics up... ^_^

This thing lives on our back porch. My friend ~jelybeener built us two custom storage cabinets out there. The big one is 8'x8', and the smaller is 3.5'x5' The smaller one converts to a high-top table when you swing it open and put leg boards in place underneath it. Clever, no? Oh yeah, and the larger one converts to a "changing room" for when you get out of our backyard pool. Open the doors, pull out the curtain and hang it in place, and voila! Nobody can see ya nekkid in there!

So anyway... My Mom said she wanted me to paint "Tiki gods" on the doors of these cabinets. She wanted a straight-up normal single Tiki on each door. Of course, that wouldn't do, for me, and I had to go a little overboard...

About a month of planning and procrastinating passed, because I'd never done something quite this big, and didn't really know where to start. Then I started it finally. Several weeks later... This was the end result!

Its all done with paint that was left over from painting all the various rooms of our house after we moved in, and also a few gallons here and there of "oops" paint bought cheap at the local hardware store. Oh, and the surfaces these Tikis are painted on? Composite board. ITS LIKE PAINTING ON MULCH!!! Really really difficult and requires SEVERAL layers!

But in the end... I think it came out looking pretty awesome!
