I know I have been quite inactive the past month, alot of private stuff going on and upcoming exams, but I will try to be more active again from now on. Microsoft Employees Disrupt Wii U Best Buy EventsRemember how Nintendo was showcasing some of their E3 games at participating Best Buy stores around the country? Well, apparently Microsoft employees have been hired to go to these events and preach about the Xbox One and make comments like "why would you buy a outdated Wii U when the Xbox One is right around the corner?"
However, the employees aren't getting what they hoped for. Most customers just start bashing the Xbox One in response. Seriously, Microsoft, the people attending these Best Buy Wii U events are people who are intimately familiar with the crap you pulled at E3. They ain't takin' your shit.
At first I thought this might just be a case of one really loyal Microsoft employee taking matters into his own hands (especially since the original source was /v/), but reports have come in from numerous Best Buy's around the country that indicate many Microsoft employees have ambushed the demo lines trying to persuade people to switch to the Xbox One.

The Used Game ParadigmOver the course of this past generation I've been watching the video game market react to the way it's been forced to deal with increasing changes. I've come out against used game sales and even written a journal about boycotting GameStop because (like most people at the time) I believed they were the root cause of all the problems the video game industry has. But that's something I don't believe now as intently as i did then. From where I sit, piracy and used games sales are a problem, but not in the way game companies want us to believe that they are.
Used games are a good thing for consumers. We get to try games out, and if we don't like what we see or finish it early, we trade it in and try another title instead. It's a very good system for us since video game rentals are much harder to come by. Most video rental stores in America have gone extinct and outside specific Red Box Kiosks there aren't a lot of places for consumers to rent video games. The exception, of course, being thr

Please Pants Responsibly (Paper Notebooks FTW)

There are two ways to write a novel. Plotting (you make an outline, a plan, a roadmap if you will, and then you sit down and write it) and pantsing (you write "by the seat of your pants, throwing caution to the wind). So when I get asked if I'm a plotter or a pantser, I'm all like er, uh, hold on, let me? Pantser? I think? But I kind of, um, do planny things?
And it gets kind of awkward because in these inarticulate moments I have managed to confuse everyone including myself. And probably spilled a drink.
In recent discussions, however, I've had a bit of a revelation, silly as it is. I've realized that I -- like many writers -- am a plotter/pantser hybrid. And perhaps what I'm doing is something we could call Pantsing Responsibly. And, maybe, just maybe, I could share some of my responsible pantsing tips with other writers. Starting with paper notebooks.

SPIKE updatesJust thought I'd share with you guys some updates on the progress of finishing my "SPIKE" novel.

Music Is My Inspiration ContestWell guys I've decided to start my own contest, because I had awesome feedback on the idea ^_^
It'll be my first contest that I've held...EVER! So it's very exciting :3

The way things are going around here lately, the cynical me is highly doubting anybody is really going to care much what I produce for art crap anyway, but I do have a pile of ideas that I'm toying with and thought I'd throw up a list.

Cuz I like lists.

"The Patron Saint of Self Injury" - Image in my head inspired by a Jack off Jill lyric. It'd be something like you see on the labels of those devotional candles, y'know? Oval shaped framing a highly decorative female saint. With gashes all over. Yeah. Its bloody awesome?

Humanoid Charlotte/Wilbur - Had this idea for a while, really. What if Charlotte wasn't a spider, but a kick ass goth chick who stood up for Wilbur the little fat kid who constantly gets picked on in the school yard?

Season 5/Ninja Tribunal Leo and Mike - Cuz I've drawn Don and Raph already.

More Faerie/Rainforest frog "Twins" images - Did a few of those a long time ago. Been thinking of doing a few more now that I'm somewhat better at digital art.

Painted cigar boxes with Day of the Dead themes - Cuz I have a few of 'em hanging around here still. Been wanting to try my hand at painting girls painted up with sugar skull faces, instead of just sugar skulls.

Upgrade/re-do of some older pieces - I started re-doing my old "Skellington Family Portrait" piece. Total crap, but I was thinking about trying again. Maybe re-do some other older fan art pieces too, like some of my Cyborg 009 stuff.

There's one other idea I want to start on, but its something for my sister and I know she reads this sometimes.

So that's all of that for now...

I know I'm just one person but I'll be sticking around.

I look forward to seeing your work regardless of the fandom, your originals are my favorites and I like everything you make!

A lot of really great artists on dA deserve more recognition and feedback. Keep submitting to groups and socializing with other artists and you'll pick up new friends here and there, it does seem to come in waves though. I'll submit a popular character plush and get swamped and then I'll post an art trade or original drawing that I'm really proud of and...get a handful of comments, hahah. It happens! It doesn't mean your art isn't still just as impressive though.

I'm glad you still enjoy it even if people haven't been as receptive. dA has grown into such a large community that getting popular is based more on luck, who you know, and the front page meme trends than skill.

Eee I wish I had something fanarty in mind! Sorry I've been so original-art-focused lately, I need to pull back on that a bit. One of these days I hope to buy more art off of you! Good luck with the commissions!

Thanks, JL. I really appreciate that. I feel like I complain about the same stuff, and too often. I really should try harder to focus on the positive. But sometimes it really does make me feel better to say what I'm really thinking with regards to this sort of thing. I never mean to offend anyone or point fingers. I know who my friends are, like you! I always get to hear from you about whatever stuffs I'm up to, and I super appreciate that. I shouldn't care so much that I don't hear random thoughts from random people, because I consistently hear from those I truly care about.

I'll get over it one of these days...

It happens, we all need to vent sometimes! Best you can do is let the feelings out and then think about what to do to improve the situation. I don't think anybody's offended or feels you're pointing the finger at them. I'm glad that I can help a little with my comments, but I still know the feeling of wishing your art got a bit more exposure - I think we all go through that at some point.

Woe indeed! I really don't mean to come off the way I probably do... Just sometimes it feels better to say whats bothering me, as dumb as it sounds once its out there, you know?

My mom and I were talking about this earlier today, how it seems like art events, feedback, socialization in artistic type things, seems to come around in a whirlwind for me. I can go a full month busy as hell over whatever upcoming event(s). But then everything just... dies. And its the silence in between things that just kills me. There is no happy medium.
