June - Alphabet Soup

First off... This drawing is a SECRET!! Nobody tell my Mom, because this is for her, for Christmas! lol!

Every year, for the last ... well, this will be the 3rd year - I make my mom a calendar! The last 2 years I've done collage type calendars. This year, I decided to do a different drawing for each of the 12 months. This one is June!

Inspired by a conversation we had, about things that make us happy. Mom said that as a kid, she always wanted to eat a big bowl of Alphabet soup! She said it always seemed like such a fun food, and she'd enjoy making words and then eating them. It was a really out of character thing for my mom to say, but it made for a good image idea, anyway!

We used to have a red kitchen with a black/white checkered floor... I miss that kitchen!

The style of this is inspired by The Cookie Jar ([link]) by `jasinski - But A) I could never do the magical things with color that he can, and 2) I really didn't realize how similar the 2 were, until just now! O_O I really just looked at The Cookie Jar for a few minutes, then set to work on mine... honest!
